Access First Consulting is unique, with a long-standing design and construction background focused on disability access.
In 2022, Access First Constructions Pty Ltd stopped trading after 41 years of continuous business, allowing us to focus on providing disability access advice, now as Access First Consulting.
During the last 12 years, we have been providing professional access consulting design advice and compliance statements for our clients.
We have an experienced, practical approach to identifying and solving problems surrounding disability access compliance.
We don’t just tell you what the problems may be—we partner with you to resolve them.
Our Experience
Alex Noor is a qualified builder with over 43 years of experience in building projects—many with specific access requirements—including construction at private hospitals, aged care premises, group homes, child care centres, schools, commercial and industrial premises, and private residences.
Spanning four decades, Access First Constructions—previously known as Noor Constructions and A. Noor Drafting Services before that—focused on building solutions that were easy for people to understand and use.
When the Disability (Access to Premises-Buildings) Standards – 2010 were introduced, Alex identified a need to provide professional advice in support of other service providers including architects, designers, building managers and owners and other builders, to ensure inclusive access for all.
To this end, Alex extended his professional capabilities and attained a Diploma in Access Consulting. Alex has attended and continues to attend formal courses, conferences, seminars and workshops to gain a wide range of knowledge of the legal requirements associated with the building design standards and codes for people with disabilities. These building design requirements are published in the National Construction Code, Access to Premises Standards, Adaptable Housing, Universal Design, Specialist Disability Accommodation and Liveable Housing Design and others.
Alex ensures that he keeps informed of all NCC and Australian Standards amendments. Alex Noor is a qualified Access Consultant providing consultancy services, including design advice, access audits of buildings and assessment of development and building proposals.
We have successfully provided many Performance Based Solutions where compliance—with the intent of the written code requirements—cannot be reasonably met due to building conditions, heritage considerations or specific needs of the occupants.
